The Challenge: An Old, Noisy Coolroom Condenser
The hotel’s existing bottle shop coolroom condenser had reached the end of its serviceable life. Not only was the unit old and inefficient, but it had also become extremely noisy during operation.
With guest accommodation located nearby, the noise was causing a disturbance, particularly overnight. To avoid disrupting guests’ sleep, the hotel had been forced to turn the condenser off each night.
While this provided temporary relief from the noise, it was far from an ideal long-term solution. A coolroom needs dependable refrigeration around the clock to maintain consistent temperatures and protect perishable stock. Regularly switching off refrigeration equipment can compromise temperature control and increase running costs.
The hotel needed a solution that would address the noise issue without compromising the performance of its coolroom.
The Solution: A High-Efficiency, Quieter Condensing Unit
After assessing the existing equipment, our team recommended replacing the old condenser with a modern, high-efficiency condensing unit designed to deliver quieter operation and reliable refrigeration performance.
One of the key considerations was the location. Rather than relocating the equipment and potentially introducing additional costs and installation complexities, we replaced the existing unit in the same position.
This approach allowed us to upgrade the refrigeration system while working within the hotel’s existing layout. During the condenser upgrade a new fan motor was fitted to the existing evaporator inside the bottle shop coolroom, to maximise the improvement of the coolroom performance.
The new condensing unit offers improved energy efficiency and significantly quieter operation, helping address the two main concerns with the original equipment. The upgrade also provides the hotel with a more dependable refrigeration solution, reducing its reliance on ageing equipment that had become increasingly unsuitable for the site.
