Office Air Conditioning
Chatfield OzCool recently worked on a project where a new air conditioning unit was swapped out for an office space.
Neo in Mulgrave had a rooftop HVAC unit that had reached the end of its serviceable life, so the decision was made to replace the unit.
For this client we removed the old rooftop unit, and replaced it with a Temperzone OPA, which is an Air-Cooled Package System.
Why is effective air conditioning important to an office environment?
- Employee comfort and productivity.
The idea temperature for an office is 22-24oC. It is believed that this temperature zone helps employees stay focused and alert. Any warmer and people can start to feel drowsy and sluggish. Any cooler and staff can become distracted and uncomfortable.
This is why an air-conditioning unit that can maintain a constant temperature is important as fluctuations throughout the day can affect productivity.
- Protection of office equipment
Equipment with moving parts or motors such as computers, printer, servers, copiers etc all generate heat. Without proper airflow, the equipment can overheat and burnout.
Also, having this equipment in proximity to where staff are working can cause temperature fluctuations, yet another reason why it’s so important to have a cooling unit that can constantly monitor ambient temperature and adjust the output accordingly.
- Health and wellbeing of staff.
Effective cooling and air circulation not only avoids heat related stress such as dehydration and fatigue, but air conditioning can also help allergy sufferers by filtering circulated air and removing allergens like dust and mould spores.
