EFSS are an essential fire safety services company that work with Chatfield OzCool on facility management fire safety audits.
EFSS and Chatfield OzCool first worked together many years ago, when a mutual client booked both companies to manage the essential services at one of their sites. EFSS and Chatfield OzCool worked so well together on this project that once their work was complete the client decided to retain both companies going forward, and in addition, sent more sites through for Chatfield OzCool and EFSS to service.
We spoke to Rod Fulton, Managing Director of EFSS, to gain his perspective of the relationship between EFSS and Chatfield OzCool. Rod shared that, “Chatfield OzCool are very experienced, easy to deal with, and have a great reputation in the industry.”
The main service performed by EFSS when working alongside Chatfield OzCool is to maintain the electrical fire elements of the essential services. This is a specialised practise that requires industry training and expertise to ensure compliance for the facility management. Rod’s explanation is that “we maintain the electrical fire side of essential services, and therefore when it comes to System Interface Testing of Full Function Fire Mode testing, we are both required to ensure correct operation of our respective essential services in an emergency situation.”
System Interface Testing of Full Function Fire Mode involves simulating a fire in the building and putting the entire building into fire mode. This fire replication is an opportunity to see if any equipment is not working as it should and allows mechanical issues to happen in a safe and controlled environment.
Rod explains that “many different companies’ maintain a single building’s essential service, such as Lift Company, Mechanical Company, Fire Company, Security / Access control company. Each individual company throughout the year tests and maintains their respective items of equipment. The importance of a Full Function Fire Mode test is that we get a chance to test the interconnections between each companies’ equipment, to make sure they all work in unison, and as one.”
