It’s a hot topic at the moment: rising costs and inflation.  

The most surprising aspect being that it seems to be affecting every aspect of our lives, whether it be transport delays, labour shortages, or weather events, as well as increased costs of manufacturing, materials, and logistics. 

The big question everyone is asking is, “How do I reduce my expenses to manage these rising costs?”.

While we may not be able to control the increased price of materials and equipment, we can certainly offer some insider tips to help you keep down the cost of managing your cooling and refrigeration equipment. 

Energy efficiency: 

If your equipment isn’t operating efficiently, that can mean money down the drain. 

A cooling system operating with a blocked filter will need to run at a much higher rate to build up enough pressure to pull air through the system, which means you will be getting the same air output, but it will be costing you a lot, lot more in electricity to run. 

There are also system upgrades that can be retrofitted to your existing equipment that allow greater energy efficiency. For example, using external fresh air to maintain internal ambient temperatures of an indoor space, requires less energy than it would take your air conditioner to cool recirculated air. This Free Cooling method involves running your air conditioning equipment on an economy cycle and it can save you money on running costs (as well as being better for the environment.)

Maintenance:

The best way to keep your existing equipment operating at optimum output, is to take care of it. 

Regular maintenance from a trained technician will keep the mechanical workings lubricated and free from contaminants, reducing the wear and tear (and running costs) of your valuable cooling and refrigeration equipment. Well maintained equipment supports energy efficiency and extends the operating life of your equipment; two things that will save you money in the long run. 

Preventative Servicing: 

Another way to manage rising costs is to forecast and budget for expected equipment upgrades. 

With regular servicing, you can keep track of the status of your cooling and refrigeration equipment and prepare for when equipment is coming towards the end of its operational life. With this knowledge you can plan and budget for equipment upgrades and help prevent unexpected breakdowns which may require urgent out-of-hours repairs, and could potentially cause business interruption; two costs you always want to avoid.
