Reducing the pinch on fuel costs

One of the ways Chatfield OzCool manages costs is through careful, considered scheduling and regional planning. Wherever possible, we coordinate call outs within the same area to reduce unnecessary travel time and fuel usage. By grouping jobs together and planning routes strategically, we can run a tighter, more efficient operation while continuing to provide prompt and reliable service.

Of course, the nature of HVAC work means that not every job can be planned in advance. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems don’t always fail at convenient times, and emergency breakdowns are often unavoidable. When a cooling system stops working during a heatwave, or critical refrigeration equipment fails unexpectedly, our team needs to respond quickly — regardless of location or scheduling efficiencies already in place.

Our travel cost fee increase

Because emergency repairs and reactive maintenance remain a core part of what we do, rising travel costs are something we can no longer absorb entirely behind the scenes. As a result, we have made the decision to increase our service fee.

Importantly, this adjustment applies only to the service call component, which helps cover the cost of travelling to and from a job. Our hourly labour rates once on site have not changed. We believe this is the fairest approach, as it allows us to continue delivering experienced, high-quality HVAC support without increasing the actual cost of the work being carried out.

We understand that no one welcomes price increases, and this decision was not made lightly. However, it reflects our commitment to maintaining reliable service standards, investing in our technicians, and ensuring we can continue responding quickly when customers need us most.

We appreciate the understanding and ongoing support of our customers as we navigate these broader economic challenges together. While fuel prices may fluctuate, our commitment to honest service, quality workmanship, and reliable HVAC solutions remains unchanged.
